About the Program

We are excited to launch the third edition of the C3 Social Impact Accelerator Program powered by HSBC: the program addresses key milestones in the journey of social entrepreneurs and focuses primarily on supporting them to maximise their impact on society and the environment, achieve financial sustainability and, ultimately, solve major social challenges at scale.

The program is at its finalist stage, training and mentoring 24 entrepreneurs from across the MENAT region. After completing the six-week training and the Board Meeting Simulations, the participants will be evaluated by the jury members and will compete for the final prize of the C3 Social Impact Accelerator Program – Powered by HSBC. The three winners will be announced during the Final Ceremony on July 1st, 2021!

Eligibility Criteria

To apply to the C3 Social Impact Accelerator Program, your startup must meet the following eligibility criteria:

  1. Based in one of the following countries: Algeria, Bahrain, Egypt, KSA, Kuwait, Oman, Turkey, and UAE.
  2. Operational & revenue generating for at least two years.
  3. Contribute to at least one of the UN Sustainable Development Goals.
  4. Full-time commitment from at least one of the founders.
  5. Fluent in written and spoken English.

Application Process

Step 1: Fill Out the Application Form

Make sure you submit the completed application by February 28th 2021 and ensure that all the information you provide is accurate and up to date. 

Incomplete forms will not be considered.

Step 2: Complete the Growth Predictor Test

(Shortlisted applicants only)

If your application is shortlisted (we will select shortlisted applicants on a rolling basis), you will receive a link by email providing you with access to the C3 Growth Predictor test. This must be completed by March 7th 2021 in order to be considered for the semi-finals.

Note: the C3 Growth Predictor test is mandatory for all shortlisted applicants that want to be considered for the semi-finals, however the results are not considered in the selection process. The Growth Predictor Report will inform our program design team on what the selected participants need. This is an excellent tool to assess whether shortlisted applicants are growth-ready!

Step 3: Attend Semi-Finalist Online Training

By March 11th 2021, C3 will announce 40 semi-finalists that will access the unique C3  online training. The training includes interactive lectures and group workshops that Semi-Finalists will benefit from.

Note: the Semi-Finalist online training is mandatory for all applicants who wish to be considered for the finals.

Step 4: Submit Assessment Deliverables

(Semi-finalists only)

If you are amongst the selected 40 semi-finalists, you will be requested to submit a few deliverables by mid-April 2021.

The documents will be reviewed and assessed by C3 experts, who will interview and select 20 finalists by early May 2021 to take part in the final stage of the program.

Step 5: Congratulations!

(Finalists only)

The 20 finalists will receive access to the Finalist online training during the month of May 2021. The training includes:

  • group workshops
  • one-on-one expert support tailored to your enterprise's individual needs
  • networking events with investors

In June 2021 (dates to be confirmed) you will have the opportunity to simulate a board meeting with senior professionals and investors as well as participate in a pitch competition to win:

  • cash prizes
  • media coverage
  • pro-bono support from our blue-chip partners

Chris Thomas

CO-CEO & Co-Founder Eureeca

A Law graduate, Chris has over 20 years experience setting up and running businesses. He has delivered multiple successful exits, mainly in the FinTech/Finance space. He is an active Angel Investor in companies across the globe and provides mentorship and support, directly and through government initiatives to entrepreneurs worldwide.

Chris is the Co-CEO and Co-founder of Eureeca.  Along with his co-founder Sam Quawasmi, Chris launched Eureeca in Dubai in 2013, and it has since grown into a cross-continent platform, currently the most regulated platform, operating in the most markets, on the planet.  Eureeca is a pioneer in the Equity Crowdfunding Industry and as such has built many tools and new products for the industry and works with multiple regulators globally to write new regulatory frameworks to enable to industry to grow.

Eureeca, which is multi award winning during its 7-year journey, helps Entrepreneurs find investors and vice versa.  From its offices in Dubai, London, Kuala Lumpur, and Amsterdam, Eureeca offers high-yield potential start up and growth company investment opportunities from the Middle East, Europe, and Southeast Asia to its investor network who range from casual and angel investors to institutional firms. Holly Fenton

Trainer, Coach, Strengths Certified

Holly is a corporate trainer and coach and the founder of FH Insights. Holly started FH Insights in 2012 with a desire to help people improve their relationships and their ability to work successfully with others. With a passion for understanding people, a keen business eye and a desire for continuous learning, Holly uses these skills to help business professional reach new levels of under standing and performance.

Holly brings energy, humour and a breadth of knowledge to the training room. She can keep a room of diverse individuals engaged and balance the right amount of information giving and probing for self-discovery. Her passion and understanding of the topics she trains creates a positive atmosphere in the training and leads to improved performance. Holly establishes long lasting working relationships with clients; FH Insights best clients now are those that started with the business in 2012. Holly continues to grow the business through her network; and most importantly referrals from happy training attendees. As a coach Holly is focused, attentive and guides the coachee to make real changes that lead to real results.

Before working in training Holly worked in Sales and Marketing Management roles in the UK and Dubai. Managing diverse teams, Holly quickly learnt that what works for one person won’t necessarily work for another. This led to an interest in personality and behavioral tools which gave her the foundation knowledge for her work today.

Tarig El-Sheikh

Founder, Jigsaw Group & Yacob

Tarig El-Sheikh is an experienced entrepreneur and finance professional with a 20 year track record across emerging markets in building global businesses, technology startups and finance. 

Most recently, Tarig was the Chief Product & Marketing Officer of Yacob and Webteb two companies which he helped grow to be the leading MENA ventures in their respective domains and, ultimately, to the successful exits of both Companies in 2019.

Previously, Tarig was the CEO of Beneple, an HR and health management platform that was successfully acquired in August 2015 after only eight months of operations. Before that, he co-founded a global e-commerce custom menswear company, Knot Standard, specializing in online and retail sales of custom clothing using proprietary online measurement technology. 

Tarig also serves as an advisor to numerous leading private equity firms and family offices and has worked extensively with the leading Accelerators & Incubators (IndiBio, 500 Startups, NYU StartAD, CONNECT, Sheraa, AliCloud/Dtec, DFA, Astrolabs).

He also sits on the boards of various companies that he has helped successfully launch.
Tarig’s on-the-ground and direct experience in developing business plans, budget, sales and marketing, corporate development strategy, managing corporate & board responsibilities, has successfully lead to numerous million dollar growth capital funding rounds from prominent investors & VCs.

He holds MBioch in Molecular Biochemistry from Oxford University, and also graduated top of his class with a Distinction MSc in Finance from the prestigious Cass Business School, London.

Tena Pick

Founder Project KAL

Tena is a gender and development expert passionate about women empowerment, community development and social impact measurement. She is based in India with extensive experience in the Middle East, Caribbean, Africa and South and Southeast Asia. She is the Founder of Project Kal, a gender leadership academy focusing on dismantling toxic masculinity patterns in India. Before Project Kal, she was the Co-founder and CEO of The Sustainability Platform, a social impact consultancy dedicated to integrating social business principles into core business operations. Tena is also the Head of Social Impact for C3-Companies Creating Change.

As a mentor, Tena has traveled to Gaza, India, Africa and all over Europe to help female-owned startups grow, and is a board member for a number of impact-driven organizations.

Tena is a regular speaker at social business conferences around the world and a contributor to Training Magazine Middle East and Entrepreneur ME, as well as a TEDx speaker.

She has been awarded Global CSR Leadership Award, 100 Global Sustainable Leaders Award and the Iconic Women award. She holds an MSc in Sustainable Development from School of Oriental and African Studies, University of London and an MA in Social Entrepreneurship from Hult International Business School.

Kevin Holliday

COO, C3 – Companies Creating Change

Kevin has over 20 years of strategy and finance experience across Europe, North America, Asia, and the Middle East, with broad exposure to different sectors and business models within complex and dynamic environments. He has previously held Head of Strategy positions at AW Rostamani Group, a large UAE family conglomerate, and OSN, the leading Pay TV platform in the MENA region, responsible for managing the group strategy development process, business portfolio mix optimisation and investment strategy, including corporate venture capital. He has also held senior finance positions at Global Integrated Security, Networkers International Plc, and Euromoney Institutional Investor Plc. He has substantial experience in high growth, fast-paced, innovative environments, with exceptional strengths in strategic development, evaluation, and execution, investment, M&A, valuation, and analysis. Kevin is a qualified chartered management accountant (London, UK) and an MBA from Warwick Business school (Warwick, UK).
